Johanna Autin’s interdisciplinary practice ranges from immersive gallery installations to community based projects. Using materials, mechanisms and concepts borrowed from textile her work questions our relationship to traditional fibre techniques and cloth. Transforming the reality of public spaces and daily gestures, she leads the viewer to reflect on notions of society, territory and human connections.
Both symbolic and poetic, Johanna Autin’s artwork takes its source in a quest for a hand-made imaginary universe. Originally from France, she participated in visual and performing art events in Lyon (France), Holguin (Cuba) and Montréal (Québec).
